These terms govern your use of Hidden Signal (hiddensignal.app). By using Hidden Signal, you agree to these terms.

What Hidden Signal Does

Hidden Signal is a newsletter digest service. You forward newsletters to us, and we use AI to summarize them and deliver a curated digest to help you decide what to read.

Your Account

Requirements

  • You must be at least 13 years old
  • You must provide accurate account information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • One person or legal entity per account

Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Acceptable Use

You Agree To:

  • Only forward emails you have the right to share (your own subscriptions)
  • Not use the service for any illegal purpose
  • Not attempt to circumvent security measures or access other users' data
  • Not use automated tools to abuse the service

You Agree Not To:

  • Forward emails containing illegal content
  • Use Hidden Signal to process sensitive personal data of third parties (medical records, financial data, etc.)
  • Resell or redistribute the service without permission
  • Interfere with the operation of the service

Content and Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain ownership of the newsletters you forward to us. By using Hidden Signal, you grant us a license to:

  • Store your forwarded emails
  • Process them to generate summaries
  • Send summaries and digests back to you

This license exists only to provide the service and ends when you delete your account.

Our Content

The Hidden Signal service, including our website, design, and original content, is owned by us. AI-generated summaries are provided for your personal use.

Third-Party Content

The newsletters you receive are owned by their publishers. Hidden Signal doesn't claim any rights to that content. Our summaries are transformative works intended to help you manage your reading — they don't replace the original content.

Third-Party Services

Hidden Signal uses third-party AI services (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar providers) to generate summaries. Your newsletter content is sent to these services for processing. We may change providers at any time. By using Hidden Signal, you acknowledge and consent to this processing.

Payment Terms

This section applies when paid features are available.

Paid Features

Some features may require a paid subscription. Pricing will be displayed before you subscribe.

Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis
  • You authorize us to charge your payment method automatically

Price Changes

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days notice. Price changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle after the notice period. If you don't agree with a price change, you can cancel before your next billing cycle.

Refunds

We offer refunds at our discretion. If you're unhappy with the service, contact us within 14 days of payment.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time. You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period.

Service Availability

We strive to keep Hidden Signal available, but we don't guarantee uptime. The service is provided "as is." We may:

  • Modify or discontinue features
  • Perform maintenance that temporarily interrupts service
  • Experience outages beyond our control

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Hidden Signal is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim
  • We are not responsible for the accuracy of AI-generated summaries — they are aids, not replacements for reading original content

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from:

  • Your violation of these terms
  • Content you forward to the service
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

Disputes

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Dispute Resolution

Before filing a lawsuit, you agree to try to resolve disputes informally by contacting us. If we can't resolve it within 30 days, either party may pursue formal proceedings.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or through the service at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Miscellaneous

  • If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect
  • Our failure to enforce a right doesn't waive that right
  • These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Hidden Signal
